Dance for a Healthier Jackson

SchooloftheArts

Active children are healthy and perform better in school.  We also believe it’s important for children to have access to the arts.  326 area children have access to dance classes because of your support to the United Way of Jackson County.  These children exercise regularly and have positive role models in their lives.  Most of these young dancers would not have access to dance if it wasn’t for this program.  The Jackson School of the Arts recently shared this Story of Impact as an example of what happens when we LIVE UNITED!

Dance brings people together and this was most evident this past season when an older dancer formed a strong friendship and bond with a younger dancer. The young dancer, Sarah, comes from a loving household, but one that has faced divorce and cancer in the past year. The older student took Sarah under her wing and now we see them come in the studios together for extra practice. They are now a reliable team at most of our volunteer events too. Sarah’s mom says this mentor relationship and friendship is the reason her daughter loves dance even more.
