BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – WK Kellogg Co and Post Consumer Brands are teaming up to kick off Battle Creek’s National Cereal Festival with a cereal sale offering 10,000 boxes of cereal to benefit three Battle Creek nonprofit organizations.
The two companies are donating a variety of popular cereal brands that will be available for public sale at $2 per box on June 13. Proceeds will benefit The Haven of Rest Ministries, United Way of South Central Michigan, and Woman’s Co-op.
The event is the second of its kind this year; a sale in March raised more than $16,000 for the Battle Creek community.
Chris Sargent, President & Executive Officer at United Way, said the collaboration between WK Kellogg and Post speaks volumes about their shared compassion, commitment and deep belief in creating lasting impact. Dollars raised for United Way will go toward addressing food insecurity in Battle Creek.
“We are incredibly grateful for their leadership and generosity as they stand united for the good of our community,” he said. “We’re proud to have their support, alongside The Haven and Woman’s Co-op—two outstanding nonprofit organizations making a real impact every day.”
At Woman’s Co-op, proceeds will go toward their Work Experience Program, which offers individuals with little to no income a pathway to upward mobility through hands-on training, life skills development, and support for career exploration.
“We are deeply honored to be among the recipients of this generous initiative by WK Kellogg Co and Post Consumer Brands—two companies whose roots, like ours, run deep in Battle Creek,” said Teresa Momenee-Young, Executive Director at Woman’s Co-op. “Just as these companies grew from bold ideas into household names, Woman’s Co-op began right here in Battle Creek with a mission to help families build brighter futures.”
Dollars raised for The Haven of Rest Ministries will help provide food, shelter and recovery services to individuals and families facing homelessness.
“The Haven of Rest Ministries is grateful for the support of WK Kellogg Co, Post Consumer Brands and our caring community,” Executive Director Daniel Jones said. “Together, we’re offering hope and a path forward for our neighbors in need. Every box of cereal sold helps The Haven of Rest continue its mission of providing shelter, meals, and hope to those experiencing homelessness in Battle Creek.”
“Supporting our hometown of Battle Creek is part of who we are at WK Kellogg Co,” said Stacy Flathau, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer. “The cereal sale is a beloved tradition that brings our community together around something we all love — cereal — while making a real difference for local programs and families. We’re proud to once again join forces with Post and United Way to help strengthen the place we call home.”
“The team at our Battle Creek plant strives every day to make delicious food accessible for all,” said Todd Person, Site Vice President of Post’s Battle Creek plant. “We’re excited to be a part of the official kickoff event to Cereal City’s hometown celebration by partnering with United Way and WK Kellogg. The non-profit organizations benefitting from the event provide vital support to members in our community, and we’re honored to support them in this way.”
The Cereal Sale takes place on Friday, June 13, at Full Blast, 35 Hamblin Ave. W., in Battle Creek. Doors open to the public at 2 p.m., and the sale lasts until 4 p.m. Consumers can purchase as many individual boxes as they wish while supplies last, and are encouraged to bring their own bags.
