IMPACT! Bridging from Homelessness to Education

Riding the bus to school is one of those things you might not think about. But what if it was the only thing standing between you and a good education? For one student, our partnership with the Student Advocacy Center helped bridge the gap between homelessness and learning for the future:

A 4th grade student was struggling to attend school regularly due to being homeless and not having transportation to school. The student and his mom were staying with a friend in a different school district. Mom was not able to transport the student to school. The SAC Family Advocate contacted school staff who provided support under the McKinney-Vento homeless law and was able to arrange transportation for the student. The student was then able to attend school consistently.

Regular attendance in school is a big factor in learning well and ultimately graduating. And graduation puts young people on a path to a rewarding, financially stable career. Your support for United Way makes stories like this one happen every day. Thank you for being part of our shared impact!
