IMPACT! Finding Housing – and Trust

United Way is proud to collaborate with the Great Start Collaborative of Jackson County on the Trusted Advisors program. Trusted Advisors connect with Jackson County residents who are struggling and need someone they can rely on:

“Sally” and her children had difficulty getting stable housing. They had been in the shelter, but their time there had run out, and they had to find another place to stay. The local Michigan Department of Health and Human Services paid for the family to stay in a hotel for a few days while they worked on other housing options, but the barriers were many. Finally, Sally connected with a Trusted Advisor. The Trusted Advisor brought together all of the people working on Sally’s behalf—including DHHS and the Jackson County Intermediate School District’s homelessness liaison—to find a solution. Because of the coordination of care set up by the Trusted Advisor, the care team was able to assist in getting Sally and her children three months of temporary housing to get them through the process of finding a more stable option.

Thanks to the work of Trusted Advisors—made possible by your support!—Sally and her children have hope for a permanent roof over their heads. This is the work that’s needed in Jackson County. By making a financial gift today, you can build upon these successes. Remember, your local dollar stays in Jackson County.
