Adults sometimes need a guardian who has their back. Family Service & Children’s Aid, a United Way partner, makes that possible through their Jackson Guardian Program:
Charlie is a 75-year-old Jackson resident that lived with his two older sisters. Due to his cognitive limitations, he relied on them to help him with his finances and day-to-day living. After one of his sisters passed away and the other became ill, there was not any other family members that were able to care for Charlie. After a thorough health and mental assessment, it was decided that Charlie could live at the John George Home. Once he was accepted, the FSCA Guardian has continued to visit Charlie and ensure that his bills are paid and he has whatever he needs. Charlie states that he loves his new friends and likes to live in his new house!
