Promotions Strengthen UW Leadership

Newly named vice presidents for Community Impact and Strategy & Engagement further strengthen leadership and community engagement by United Way of the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo Region.

Matt Lynn has been named Vice President for Community Impact. In his elevated role, Matt will take a stronger lead in guiding the organization’s impact work. This includes leading strategic priorities and collective action, guiding processes for mobilizing and allocating resources in the community, engaging partner agencies and groups to build capacity, guiding public policy, and connecting with community leaders to drive measurable results in education, income, health and basic needs.

Previously serving as Director for Community Impact, Matt has been with United Way since 2006. Before then, he served as Program Director for YouthBuild Battle Creek through the Community Action Agency of South Central Michigan. Matt holds a master’s degree in public administration from Western Michigan University, and a bachelor of arts degree in theater history and communications from Albion College.

Alyssa Stewart has been named Vice President for Strategy & Engagement. In this role, Alyssa will strengthen the work of UWBCKR in volunteerism and community engagement strategies, as well as drive the evolution of UWBCKR’s business model and lead the impact work within United Way’s health focus area.

Alyssa joined United Way in 2013, most recently serving as Director of Strategy & Engagement. Previously, she was Operations Manager for the Michigan Works! PATH Program in Kalamazoo and St. Joseph counties. Alyssa holds a master’s degree in public administration from Western Michigan University, and a bachelor of arts degree in political science and public policy from Albion College.
