Social Media Community Guidelines

Welcome to the United Way of South Central Michigan (Facebook/Instagram/LinkedIn/YouTube) community! We invite you to learn more and inspire others to help create strong, caring communities where every person is valued, thriving and connected for the common good.

To ensure a positive and respectful experience for all, please review and adhere to the following community guidelines. By participating, you agree to abide by these guidelines. United Way of South Central Michigan reserves the right to remove any content it deems unfit and block and/or report users that violate these guidelines.

1. Be respectful and kind:

We encourage diverse perspectives and constructive discussions. Treat fellow community members with kindness, empathy and respect. Hate speech, bullying, harassment, or any form of harmful behavior or language will not be tolerated. Violators will be blocked and reported.

2. Be inclusive:

Use inclusive and non-discriminatory language. Any offensive, harmful, or discriminatory comments based on race, ethnicity, color, national origin, age, gender, gender identity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability, income, citizenship status, or other identity will be removed, and the user blocked. At United Way of South Central Michigan, we know addressing inequity is critical to accomplishing our mission of creating a flourishing, equitable life for everyone. To do so, we must keep learning and taking actions to build strong, caring community where every person is valued, thriving and connected for the common good.

3. Stay on topic:

Keep discussions relevant to the purpose and mission of United Way of South Central Michigan. Off-topic content will be removed. Submit your own original content; do not submit content that you know to be fraudulent.

4. No inappropriate content:

Posting any material or links that we consider spam, advertising, self-promotion or in any way inappropriate or illegal is strictly prohibited. These items will be removed, the user blocked and reported.

5. Respect privacy:

Respect the privacy of others. Do not share someone’s personal information or story without consent. Be cautious when sharing your own personal information.

6. Keep criticism constructive and not personal:

We welcome constructive feedback on our work. Criticism of individuals will not be tolerated. You can share your feedback on our work directly via email at marketing@uwscmi.org. Help us improve and grow by sharing your insights.

7. Report concerns:

If you come across content that violates these guidelines, or if you feel uncomfortable due to someone’s behavior, please report it to the social media page via direct message. Our social media coordinator will be in touch.
