The merger that created United Way of South Central Michigan has been named the nonprofit M&A Deal of the Year by MiBiz Magazine. UWSCMI will be recognized at an award ceremony this week.
UWSCMI will join winners from 12 business sectors and five individual categories being honored on Wednesday in Grand Rapids.
In an interview published today, UWSCMI President & CEO Chris Sargent cited the long-time collaboration between the legacy United Ways, the potential for greater local and regional impact, and the strength of UWSCMI’s staff as the drivers of the merger’s success.
Now in its 10th year, the publication’s Deals & Dealmakers Awards show that the economic environment in west Michigan has much to offer, according to Joe Boomgaard, editor of the regional business magazine.
“Certainly, we’re celebrating corporate deals and individual dealmakers, but these awards also serve as a nod to what creates the business environment in the communities where we all live, work and play,” Boomgaard said.
