IMPACT! Trusted Advisors Encourage Vaccination

Being there for people who are struggling can make all the difference. Trusted Advisors, an initiative through the Great Start Collaborative, depends on individuals living in high-poverty areas who are trained and trusted to help others in need navigate support systems in housing, food, employment, health care and other needs. Here’s how Trusted Advisors encouraged residents to get vaccinated against COVID-19:

Sadly, due to racism and other disparities throughout history, Black Americans have experienced unequal access to quality health care. As a result, some Black communities are skeptical about the recent vaccines to combat COVID-19. In an effort to raise awareness and underscore safety, several Trusted Advisors in Jackson County received their vaccine live on Facebook. Their intent was to educate Black communities on what to expect and to encourage community members to get vaccinated. The feedback received from community members was very positive, and many Black residents reached out to the health department to sign up for the vaccine.

More individuals and families in our community will remain healthy thanks to the work of Trusted Advisors. Your gift is an investment in changed lives in Jackson County. Please consider supporting our work.
