IMPACT! A Home for the Holidays and Beyond

Owning your own home is the most basic element of the American dream. Sadly, big hurdles exist for many who strive to make that dream a reality. For one local family struggling to get ahead, Community Action Agency helped them blaze a pathway to homeownership.

A single mom on Social Security Disability and working part time to provide for her family became a homeowner shortly before Christmas. When she came to CAA, her credit score was okay but not enough to get a home. CAA worked with her to increase her credit score and help her create a budget to save money. CAA also worked with her realtor and lender to help her through the home-buying process. She was able to use Individual Development Account funds in conjunction with the bank’s Down Payment Assistance program, which made her payment affordable so she can sustain and continue to save money.

A family in need now has a home of their own because Jackson County cares. Thank you for supporting our work.
