IMPACT! Learning to Cope

AWARE-Counseling-768x743-1

Once the people who have faced domestic violence get into safer surroundings, the process of healing begins. That healing includes learning to cope and being equipped to avoid violence in the future. Our partner AWARE, Inc. is doing just that for local individuals in crisis. Here’s an example:

One of the counselors at AWARE worked with a survivor of domestic violence during this report period who felt strong enough to conclude her sessions. She gained healthy coping skills and the tools to manage a crisis. She also gained knowledge of interpersonal violence and the dynamics of violence, which will help her identify red flags in the future.
