Community Grants

Our grant process is highly competitive. In 2024, we are initiating a 2-year grant cycle. Using trust-based philanthrophy, our grant reviewers will deliberate based upon equity and how the solution advances and supports financial stability for the ALICE population. Funded programs will report outcomes and share their stories of success every six months to ensure transparency, accountability and community-driven solutions. Funding availability is based upon on annual campaign.

Since 2017, UWSCMI Capital Area has funded collaborative grantees to solve the communities' most pressing issues from early childhood literacy, homeless families, after school, and children's mental health. While health/basic needs, education and financial stability remain the top priorities in our community, UWSCMI met with community coalitions, grassroots BIPOC leaders, and conducted site-visits to grant funded partners to maintain the collaborative grant process in our new funding cycle.

Dozens of volunteers participate in evaluating grant proposals annually and determine which programs offer the best opportunities to create success for local residents.
