Now in its eighth year, United Way of Jackson County’s annual cardboard boat race shows no sign of sinking from site.
What Floats Your Cardboard Boat? Race is a celebration of the fun and partnership that makes Jackson County great. This year, 16 boats put together by area businesses, schools and organizations will compete for awards—and the honor of staying afloat.

The boats set sail on Friday, September 6, at 4 p.m. at Cascades Falls Urban Fishery, 1401 S. Brown St in Jackson. This year’s design theme is Food. Awards will be given for first and second places, as well as “Judges’ Choice” and “Most Spectacular Sinking.” Also, spectators can select a “People’s Choice” winner with dollar votes at the event.
