Cereal Sale Back For Summer, Set For Aug. 26

Boxes of cereal are lined up on a table.

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – WK Kellogg Co and Post Consumer Brands are partnering again to offer cereal at discounted pricing to benefit the Battle Creek community.

Each company has donated 5,000 boxes of popular cereals to sell at $2 a box, with no purchase limit, on Wednesday, Aug. 26, in Battle Creek. Proceeds from the event will go toward United Way of South Central Michigan (UWSCMI) and South Michigan Food Bank.

“We’re so grateful to be a partner in this popular tradition,” said Teresa Kmetz, UWSCMI Executive Development and Marketing Officer. “It’s inspiring to see these two organizations come together, year after year, in a shared purpose of strengthening and uplifting the Battle Creek community.”

The previous three sales combined, including one in March, have raised more than $42,000 for the community.

“Battle Creek is our hometown, and giving back to this community has been part of our heritage for more than a century,” said Stacy Flathau, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, WK Kellogg Co.

“The Summer Cereal Sale is a powerful example of how we bring our Feeding Happiness™ sustainable business strategy to life, supporting our neighbors while helping more families access the nutritional benefits that cereal provides,” Flathau added. “As a convenient, affordable source of key nutrients, including fiber, B vitamins and iron, cereal continues to play an important role in helping families start their mornings. We’re proud to strengthen our community while celebrating the value and nutrition cereal delivers every day.”

Volunteers from Kellogg, Post, UWSCMI and South Michigan Food Bank will be on hand to help run the event.

“Our Battle Creek team is always energized by opportunities that allow us to give back to Cereal City, especially when it means helping make delicious food accessible for families in our community,” said Todd Person, Site Vice President for Post Consumer Brands’ Battle Creek cereal manufacturing facility. “We’re grateful to our employees and volunteers who help make this event possible and to the community members who continue to show up in support of such important local organizations.”

Leftover product will be taken to the South Michigan Food Bank and Kellogg Community College Bruin Pantry.

“The Cereal Sale is a great event each year,” said Peter Vogel, South Michigan Food Bank CEO. “Our community benefits by having access to nutrition. For South Michigan Food Bank, partnerships are vital when addressing hunger, and WK Kellogg Co, Post Consumer Brands, and United Way of South Central Michigan continue to rise to the occasion. Thank you!”

The Cereal Sale takes place on Wednesday, August 26, at Full Blast, 35 Hamblin Ave. W., in Battle Creek. Doors open to the public at 4 p.m., and the sale lasts until 6 p.m. Consumers can purchase as many individual boxes as they wish while supplies last, and are encouraged to bring their own bags, boxes, carts or wagons to transport their purchases.
