“I WANT TO GIVE HER THE BEST START POSSIBLE BECAUSE SHE LOVES TO LEARN AND WE WANT TO KEEP FEEDING THAT LOVE.”

Starving To Learn

Imagine a child excited and eager to learn, to grow and to share. To socialize and to explore. Now picture a brightly burning candle. The flame is that child’s opportunity to do all of the above. But the flame begins to flicker and suddenly is gone, because it’s been starved of what it needs.

The Best Start Possible

This could’ve been the fate of my daughter, Aracely. But it won’t be. I wanted to give her the best start possible. She loves to learn and I want to keep feeding that love, with the belief that it will continue to grow as she does. And the Learning Village is giving her that opportunity, while helping her realize her potential.

My childhood was without such an opportunity, and that is why I want to be as involved as I can be in her education. Her candle will burn long and bright – and that’s all any parent can ask for.

My name is Fanny, and now I help change the story.

With the generous help of the Learning Village and KC Ready 4s, Fanny was able to change the story. For a complete list of our partners, please click here.

Health

We are making sure people have access to physical and mental health care, and that babies are born healthy. We work with health care providers to keep costs low and make sure services are available for those with little or no health insurance.

Income

We’re helping families become – and stay – self-sufficient by investing in programs that help them stay in their homes, through rental assistance, budgeting and financial counseling. We also help people become financially stable by supporting job training and retention programs, and through the Tax Counseling Initiative and the Emergency Food and Shelter program.
