IMPACT! A Family Able to Stay the Course

Child-Care-Network-768x650

The COVID-19 pandemic presented unique and unexpected challenges for countless families. When one local family saw their plans for a better life upended, our partnership with Child Care Network helped them stay the course:

“Mary” and “Joe” are the loving parents of two young boys, “Bobby” and “Joey.” According to Mary, they are “so happy and full of life.” Mary and Joe are hard-working, with big plans to build the best life possible for their sons. Mary is a full-time student and will be the first in her family to earn a college degree. Joe, the sole financial provider for their family, was actively training and developing skills toward promotion in his field when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. The family struggled due to layoffs and not knowing what’s in store. The family turned to Child Care Network’s Family Support Program for assistance. Because of the generosity of the United Way of Jackson County, the family received a child care scholarship. Joey, “a great learner,” is attending a high-quality early childhood education program, where he is flourishing. This allows Mary to continue toward her goal of graduation while Joe can work on growing his career.

When families succeed, our whole community benefits. Stories like this can’t happen without your support for United Way. Thank you for making a difference!
