Food is essential to life, yet thousands of people right here in Jackson County don’t know where their next meal will come from. United Way partners with South Michigan Food Bank to make sure every person has access to food. South Michigan Food Bank serves eight counties in our region, supplying a network of local food pantries. Here’s a powerful story from one location:

A client came to a South Michigan Food Bank site and explained how he had recently been laid off from work. While he’d caught up on his bills and, thankfully, had a new job on the horizon, he didn’t have any money for food for himself and his family. He rushed in just before the site closed, and volunteers helped load his truck with food for the week. “I can never express how much this means to my family,” he said. “I called you and you were there with smiling faces and never questioned me. I don’t know how we would have eaten without you.”

When you make a financial gift to United Way, you transform lives in countless ways—including feeding families right here in our community. We’re grateful for your generous support.
