IMPACT! Inspiring Life and Advocacy

The Jackson Chapter of Nation Outside helps formerly incarcerated citizens reconnect with life, employment and community. We partner with them to support the Michigan Center for Youth Justice. The story that follows shows how working together helps families and inspires advocates:

Nation Outside met a young pregnant woman who was struggling with maintaining rent and utility expenses, as well as facing food insecurity. Her child’s father is currently incarcerated. Our engagement theory involves feeding our community, which allowed Nation Outside to provide food at that moment, along with educating her on the organization and voting rights. Later that week our engagement specialist took her to lunch to help her connect with Jackson area resources. Not only did she receive crucial help, she’s now actively engaged as a Nation Outside member.

Individuals affected directly or indirectly by incarceration deserve every chance to succeed. We’re proud to partner with Nation Outside. We hope you’ll consider donating to our work so that United Way can continue to partner and transform lives. Remember, your gift goes to our work in Jackson County.
