IMPACT! Partnering to Change a Family’s Future

Trauma can have lasting effects on a person’s—and even a whole family’s—mental health. Jackson County residents struggling with tough times are getting the help they need through a partnership with Catholic Charities of Jackson, Lenawee and Hillsdale Counties, and Family Service & Children’s Aid—a partnership we’re proud to help fund.

A family of five experienced significant trauma. The out-of-pocket expenses to get counseling were unrealistic for this family trying to get back on their feet. Through United Way funding for the Jackson County Clinical Counseling Voucher Program, Family Service & Children’s Aid was able to provide affordable trauma services for all 5 members.

In another case, “Susan” managed to get out of an extremely abusive relationship as well as put substance abuse behind her. Even so, depression and anxiety posed major challenges in her life. The voucher program made it possible for Susan to get counseling through Catholic Charities to manage her mental health—even securing a new job.

Your investment in United Way is having a powerful, positive effect on people in Jackson County. Please continue to support our work.
