KALAMAZOO – United Way of South Central Michigan is now accepting applications for Phase 2 of the Community Violence Intervention grant process.

Kalamazoo city commissioners approved the allocation from Community Violence Prevention ARPA State and Local Fiscal Relief funds earlier this month. Programs operated by 501c(3) organizations that align with city priorities are eligible to apply for a portion of $457,000 in available resources.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to schedule an appointment before submitting their request.

The Community Violence Intervention grants were created as a joint effort by the City of Kalamazoo and Kalamazoo County to address the rising epidemic of gun violence in our communities. Nearly $800,000 was granted in Phase 1 during a closed process administered by UWSCMI. These organizations were chosen based on their expertise and established presence in our community.
